Michele Saito

What do you do at Farmers Hawaii? I’m President. This December marks my 25th year!

Where did you grow up? I grew up in Moiliili.

What kind of volunteer work do you do? Currently, I’m co-troop leader and cookie manager for Troop 808, Girl Scout Silver Award advisor, Treasurer for the Kailua Service Unit of the Girl Scout Council, Director for the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce and a parent volunteer for Iolani School activities.

How does your volunteer work affect our community? My work is just a small but necessary piece in building a stronger community. To make a difference...that’s important.

Kathy Doctorello

What do you do at Farmers Hawaii? I’m an Accounting Supervisor.

Where did you grow up? I grew up in the state of Washington, but I’ve lived in Hawaii for 40 years now. 23 of those years, I’ve been working at Farmers Hawaii.

What kind of volunteer work do you do? I’m a longtime blood donor for the Hawaii Blood Bank. I also support community efforts Farmers Hawaii sponsors.

What have you learned from volunteering? There are lots of people giving. Volunteer work is a collective effort and the results are so beneficial to the community. Someday, it may be you who needs help. That’s why I volunteer. It feels good to give.

Blaine Hedani

What do you do at Farmers Hawaii? Director of Sales.

Where did you grow up? Kahului, Maui No Ka Oi. “You can take the boy out of Maui, but you can’t take Maui out of the boy.”

What kind of volunteer work do you do? I’m Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 664, Mililani Mauka, and Assistant Leader of Girl Scout Troop 427, Pearl City.

How does your volunteer work affect our community? By working with today’s youth and offering them guidance, we are really investing in the leaders of tomorrow.

What have you learned from volunteering? To be thankful for what you have. It’s important to always keep an attitude of gratitude and servitude.

Monique Pascual

What do you do at Farmers Hawaii? I’m a Compliance Manager. I make sure our programs and policies meet all federal, state and corporate requirements.

Where did you grow up? Hong Kong and Hawaii Kai.

What kind of volunteer work do you do? I serve on the Multiple Sclerosis Board and help with their fundraising activities. I’ve also helped with Meals on Wheels and at the Ronald McDonald House and participated in the March of Dimes and American Cancer Society walks.

What would you say to others interested in serving their community? No matter what you do to help, you’ll be making a difference and people are always grateful. When you find the right cause, volunteering is a joy and a cinch…you just have to make the first move.

Olga Oliberos

What do you do at Farmers Hawaii? I’m a Claims Specialist.

Where did you grow up? I lived in Queens, New York for 10 years before coming to Hawaii. I think the weather and the people here are lovely!

What kind of volunteer work do you do? On weekends, I volunteer at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, teaching art classes to young, aspiring artists.

What is the best part about being a volunteer? I enjoy seeing the kids’ faces when I help them. It’s rewarding to know that I’m helping keep our community vibrant and together. I’m also setting an example for my son, so that he knows there is always time in one’s life to help others.
