FARMERS INSURANCE HAWAII PARTNERS WITH GRAND HYATT KAUAI TO LEND A HAND TO BEAUTIFY WAIMEA CANYON MIDDLE SCHOOL

Farmers Insurance Hawaii, in partnership with the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa, held a campus beautification project at Waimea Canyon Middle School on Kauai today. Farmers Insurance Hawaii and Grand Hyatt Kauai employees worked side-by-side with Waimea Canyon students, faculty and staff to plant trees, hedge plants, and other greenery that were donated by Farmers Insurance Hawaii.

"We are both pleased and excited to be able to partner with Waimea Canyon Middle School and give back to the community," said Michele Saito, president of Farmers Insurance Hawaii. "We hope that this school beautification project will help generate school pride and benefit the students and future generations for many years to come."

Farmers Insurance Hawaii made a donation of trees, hedge plants and greenery to be placed throughout the campus, with employee volunteers partnering up with Hyatt Kauai employees and Waimea Canyon students and staff to participate in the campus beautification. The celebration and service event kicked off with a ceremonial planting by Michele Saito and Linda Uyehara, vice principal of Waimea Canyon Middle School.

The plants will not only spruce up the campus, but were specifically chosen due to their ability to withstand extreme drought conditions and will therefore be easier to maintain. The hope is that the joint beautification event helps to instill school pride in the students and give them the opportunity to participate in something positive for the environment.

"We would like to thank Farmers Insurance Hawaii for generously donating these plants to our campus for our students and teachers to enjoy," said Uyehara. "Not only will the donation beautify our school, it also has given our students a chance to work together toward helping our environment."

"Giving back to our community and helping our keiki is important to our employees and company," said Doug Sears, General Manager, Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa. "We are proud to partner with Farmers Insurance Hawaii in lending a hand to help Waimea Canyon Middle School."
