FARMERS INSURANCE HAWAII URGES THE COMMUNITY TO PLEDGE TO KEEP HAWAII ROADS SAFE DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON

HONOLULU – This holiday season, Farmers Insurance Hawaii urges Hawaii drivers to pledge to make our roads safer. Farmers Insurance Hawaii kicks off the "Be Prepared. Don’t Drive Impaired." campaign today to encourage drivers to pledge to make a personal commitment to not drink and drive, volunteer to be a designated driver, and keep others who are impaired off the road by helping them make arrangements to get home safely.

"The holiday season between Thanksgiving and New Year's can be one of the deadliest and most dangerous times on our roadways due to an increase in drunk driving," said Michele Saito, president of Farmers Insurance Hawaii. "With the holiday season upon us, Farmers Insurance Hawaii is encouraging drivers to pledge to make Hawaii's roads safer. Please plan ahead to make sure you have a safe way home by choosing to not drive impaired," said Saito.

The "Be Prepared. Don’t Drive Impaired." campaign aims to secure pledges from Hawaii drivers and for those that pledge, they will be entered for a chance to win one of five $100 gas gift cards. Drivers that pledge can also print out their pledge card and present it at participating Hawaii Restaurant Association (HRA) restaurants for one free soft drink per visit through January 2, 2012.

To take the pledge, and for a list of participating HRA restaurants, please visit www.myfarmershawaii.com.
