Farmers Insurance Hawaii Urges Public to Help Local Hawaii Teachers Win Classroom Grants at ThankAMillionTeachers.com

HONOLULU, HI – Farmers Insurance Hawaii is urging the public to vote in support of three Hawaii-based teachers – Selene Horita of Fern Elementary, Cassie Romero of Lanakila Elementary, and Tzaddi Pearce of Sgt. Samuel K. Solomon Elementary – who need votes on the www.thankamillionteachers.com/vote-for-a-proposal web site in order to win $2,500 grants for their classroom.

"Farmers Insurance launched a national initiative, Thank A Million Teachers, to recognize America's teachers for what they do and as part of the effort, we are also providing much needed grants to teachers," said Melanie Joseph, Marketing Manager at Farmers Insurance Hawaii. "Here in Hawaii, we have three wonderful teachers who are doing great things in our local schools, and we are asking our community to join us in rallying support for their proposals."

The following three Hawaii teachers are seeking votes in support of their proposals:

Ms. Horita at Fern Elementary School is hoping to secure funding for four field trips to help provide real, out in the field, learning experiences. With limited funds available through the school or the district, these funds would go a long way to enriching her students' education.

Ms. Romero at Lanakila Elementary School is requesting funding to acquire electronic equipment, including a voice amplifier, to help her students share their ideas and help them increase their confidence.

Ms. Pearce at Solomon Elementary School is seeking funds to help her achieve her goal of becoming a National Board Certified Teacher through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards process, which is a very challenging and selective process for the nation's elite teachers.

Anyone can vote for any proposal, but a person can vote for the same proposal only once per day. Voting will be open through March 31, 2014. If these teachers gather enough votes, they could each receive up to $2,500 in grant funding.

"It's easy to vote and I know these teachers and their students will truly appreciate the support. Just go to www.thankamillionteachers.com/vote-for-a-proposal and select "Hawaii" in the ‘Search for a Proposal by state' field. After pressing the 'Go' button, the three proposals will appear and follow the directions on voting," said Joseph.

Added Joseph, "We encourage everyone to vote today for these three proposals and then go back the next day and the next to vote for them again. We truly hope our Hawaii teachers and their students win."
